China Mobile has commenced construction on what will be the world's largest call center, a 20,000-seat facility in the city of Luoyang.

The world's largest mobile operator has allocated 4 billion yuan ($633.3 million) for construction of the call center, People's Dailyreported.

When complete, the 500,000 square meter facility is expected to employ at least 60,000 total staff.

The build forms part of China Mobile's plan to centralize and improve the operating efficiency of its nationwide call center operations.

The construction cost will not be an issue for China Mobile, which is sitting on a cash horde estimated to be worth around $50 billion as of September last year. The operator has expressed a preference for spending this money internally, including preparing for the upgrade to TD-LTE.

China Mobile has an estimated 67% of China's huge mobile market. The operator was late last year named the nation's most valuable brand in a study by advertising and market research firm WPP. WPP estimates that the total worth of the brand is over $53.6 billion.
