China Mobile has been named the country's most valuable brand in a new study, with an estimated brand worth of over $53.6 billion.
Rivals China Telecom and China Unicom came in at 11th and 15th place respectively in a report by global advertising and market research firm WPP. China Telecom's brands are worth an estimated $10.86 billion, while Unicom's are worth $6.25 billion.
Despite China Mobile's strong showing, WPP estimates that the operator's brand value has fallen 4% this year.
China's mobile market is over 950 million customers strong and counting, and the nation was recently estimated to have overtaken the US as the world's largest smartphone market.
Several internet-based companies also achieved a strong showing on the top-50 list. Search engine Baidu and e-commerce and social networking company Tencent Holdings were ranked in sixth and tenth place respectively - ahead of both China Telecom and China Unicom.
While web portal sina.com.cn placed just 25th on the list, its total brand value is estimated to have grown 244% over the last year.
