China Mobile and Japan's NTT DoCoMo have agreed to an international roaming agreement covering the former's TD-LTE network.

Under the deal, NTT DoCoMo will offer its domestic customers outbound roaming over the TD-LTE network starting from today.

Customers with compatible handsets will be able to take advantage of China Mobile's 150Mbps LTE-A network.

This marks the first international roaming agreement for a Japanese operator on a TD-LTE network in China. It is the latest LTE roaming agreement for DoCoMo. The operator now offers international LTE roaming in 27 countries and regions, up from 16 in August.

DoCoMo said it is pursuing partnership deals with more mobile operators for international LTE roaming arrangements.

China Mobile's extensive LTE network currently consists of well over 500,000 base stations in over 300 cities, and the company recently set a target of having 700,000 in operation by the end of 2014.

The company meanwhile had nearly 41 million LTE customers as of the end of September, up from 14 million at the end of June.
