Japan's NTT DoCoMo is expanding its inbound and outbound LTE roaming services to four new countries and regions.
The operator will start offering LTE roaming to travelers from Italy and Vatican City who are subscribed to local operator partners from August 22.
These additions will take the number of countries and regions supported up to 16. The others are South Korea, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, mainland USA, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
DoCoMo has also expanded its outbound LTE roaming service to cover Guam, and plans to extend the service to Thailand on August 22. DoCoMo's Thai partner is TrueMove.
After the debut, DoCoMo will be offering outbound LTE roaming to its subscribers travelling in 15 countries and regions. The list is similar as that for the inbound LTE service, except it excludes China, Taiwan and the Netherlands, and includes Hong Kong and Guam.
DoCoMo first launched outbound LTE roaming in March, in an initial eight countries and regions.
Besides TrueMove, DoCoMo's roaming partners include China Mobile, KT, Maxis, Far EasTone, Chunghwa Telecom and 3 HK.
