At the age of 14, Luca Brecel won the European Under-19 title, breaking Stephen Hendry's record as the youngest player ever to participate at the Crucible Theatre. He made his World Championship debut in 2012 at the age of 17 years and 45 days, over two months younger than Hendry in 1986.
When he defeated Shaun Murphy in the final of the China Championship in 2017, Brecel became the first player from mainland Europe to win a ranking tournament. At the 2021 UK Championship, he reached his first Triple Crown final but lost 5–10 to Zhao Xintong. He won his second ranking championship, the 2021 Scottish Open, a week later, defeating John Higgins 9–5.
Brecel's 2020/21 season was a disaster, as he failed to get past the third round in any competition.
Kurt Maflin – The Viking
Kurt Graham Maflin is a professional snooker player who is both English and Norwegian. Maflin, a great break-builder, has 200-century breaks in his career and is one of just 25 players to have made multiple 147 breaks in professional competition.
He qualified for the 2020 World Snooker Championship in frame 16 versus David Gilbert in the first round. He tried for a 147. Nonetheless, the cueball landed on the yellow after he potted the 14th red on. Therefore, he was not on the black to complete the maximum. He gave the cueball the middle finger. The referee then cautioned him for the obscene gesture at the start of the following frame, threatening to dock him a frame if he did it again.
