The collective eyes of the PSL were fixed on Durban City, who seemed to be the favorable draw on paper. Fortunately for them, cup competitions aren’t won on paper. The Durban outfit will fancy their chances against Marumo Gallants who dangle dangerously above the relegation zone in the South African topflight. Two of the Betway Premiership’s big hitters were paired up in Monday’s draw as SuperSport United will host defending champions Orlando Pirates. The Sea Robbers are on course to do the ‘three-peat’ having gone all the way in the last two seasons.
Stellenbosch will welcome Kaizer Chiefs to the winelands as the Glamour Boys look to lift silverware for the first time since 2015. Mamelodi Sundowns meanwhile, will need to wait a bit longer to find out who they’ll face. The round of 32 clash between Royal AM and second-tier Milford FC still needs to be completed with Sekhukhune United waiting for the winner. The winner of that tie will then tackle Masandawana in the last eight.
When will the Quarterfinals kick off?
The action is set to unfold on the weekend of 7-9 March with the PSL set to confirm the dates and kick off times in due course.
