Andrey Rublev vs David Goffin Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds │7 JULY, 2023

In the third round of the Wimbledon tournament, Andrey Rublev will meet David Goffin, now the 123rd-ranked player in the world. The tennis players have crossed paths twice on the Tour, both played on hard court, both won by the Russian, who is quoted as the big favorite in the pair.

After the final in Hull, which he lost to Alexander Bublik in three sets, Andrey played two exhibition matches against Auger-Aliassime and Musetti, winning both in two games. Rublev started his Wimbledon campaign with two convincing victories over Purcell and Karatsev, beating the Australian in three sets and his compatriot in four. The match against Karatsev lasted nearly three hours; Rublev won 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. Andrey made 12 aces and one double fault, winning 76% of first-serve points and 58% of second-serve points.

David hasn't been in our reviews much lately; the Belgian has fallen to 123rd in the ATP rankings, and on the grass in 2023 before Wimbledon, David has only played two tournaments in 's-Hertogenbosch and Ilkley. Goffin has two wins in four games in London over Marozsan and Barrios. His second-round match against Barrios lasted three hours and 23 minutes, 7-6, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 in favor of the Belgian. David hit 12 aces, four double faults, 69% of his first serve points, and 47% of his second serve points.

Andrey and David have played each other twice on Tour. Both meetings were played on hard court at the Majors in New York and Melbourne. Rublev won in three sets at the US Open in 2017. Rublev was also stronger at the Australian Open but in four games.

Rublev is better toned than the Belgian. In addition, Andrey has had the best results on grass this season and has generally not had much trouble in the past with passing Goffin. There's much to suggest that Rublev will have a solid win over a fairly comfortable Belgian on Friday. Moreover, we wouldn't be surprised if three games are enough for Andrey. We have the following odds for this match:

  • W1 + TU (39.5) for 1.78;
  • Andrey Rublev to win 3-0 for 2.25;
  • H1 (-7.5) for 2.75.
