The United States was eliminated from the group stage after losing to Italy and Colombia. With the squads they have, both teams are in a good position in the Davis Cup to qualify for the quarterfinals, with several high-ranked players in both singles and doubles. The retirement of US Open semifinals Frances Tiafoe delivered a significant blow to the US. However, they still have Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul, not to mention Rajeev Ram, the World No. 2 in doubles.
Great Britain
Last year, Great Britain advanced to the Davis Cup quarterfinals before falling to Germany 2-1. Dan Evans took the lead at the moment by defeating Peter Gojowczyk. Jan-Lennard Struff, however, upset Cameron Norrie, while Kevin Krawietz and Tim Putz defeated Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski in the doubles tie to eliminate Great Britain.
Cameron Norrie, the World No. 8 from the United Kingdom, leads the squad and has put in several strong performances in recent months. Dan Evans and former World No. 1 Andy Murray are also on the team and have the potential to play some fantastic tennis.
Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski are two of the world's finest doubles players, and their additions strengthen the squad.
