So, things will only heat up from here and the heat will be sky-high when Spaniard Garbine Muguruza takes on Czecha’s Petra Kvitova.

Garbine comes into the third round after defeating Linda Fruhvirtova 6-0, 6-4. In that game, she collected a 6 Aces tally. Meanwhile, she had a 65% first serve, winning 69% on the first serve. She had a massive 36-17 service points advantage. In the first round, she had to battle through feisty Clara Tauson whom she had to deal with in a second-set tiebreaker. But now the competition level has been elevated and Muguraza has been sloppy against elite players this year.

Petra didn’t have to work hard at all in the Second Round as she nabbed a walkover won against Anhelina Kalinina. In the first round, Petra did a great job of defeating Erika Andreeva 7-6, 6-0. The veteran player has been looking charged-up in recent times but historically, she has been in a bind when facing top-ranked players in earlier rounds. However, Kvitova’s power game can be too much for the out-of-touch players, which can be the case here.

This is going to be the seventh battle between the WTA stalwarts. Petra has won five out of six games, winning four in a row on the Hard surface.

Expert Betting Tips

Kvitova has been knocking the ball hard and she has surely rediscovered her touch recently. On the other hand, Garbine has been troubled early on in games and has looked flat out lazy while chasing the ball. Will two wins in a row to begin the US Open change that? I am not convinced yet about that. That’s why I’d back Petra to take this game in two sets to advance to the Round of 16.
