Denis Shapovalov vs Andrey Rublev Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds │3 SEPTEMBER, 2022

The next opponent for Andrey Rublev will be Canadian tennis player Denis Shapovalov, the world No. 21. The guys know each other well. They have played five times on the tour. So far, the advantage is on Andrey's side (3-2). Logically, Rublev is regarded as the favorite for the match.

One cannot say that Denis had good game practice before the U.S. Open. The Canadian played three tournaments in Washington, Montreal, and Cincinnati, falling out in the first two after the first games. In Ohio, he beat Dimitrov and Paul but lost to Medvedev. In New York, the Canadian had already lost three sets, although his opponents were the humble Husler and Carballes Baena. The Swiss took two sets from Denis, the Spaniard one. The match against Baena lasted almost three hours; Shapovalov won it 3-1 (6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2). The Canadian served 11 aces, making 13 double faults, and won 86% of points on the first serve and 48% on the second. On the receiving end, he had 33%/41%, tallying 54/49 winners/unforced errors. Denis was risking a lot and making many mistakes. He did well against the Spaniard, but will he do as well against Rublev?

As we expected, Rublev will play a better second-round match at the US Open. Andrey fought against Serbia's Djere in a five-set battle in the first round, but the world No. 11 passed Kwon in three sets and an hour and 45 minutes. During the game, Rublev served 12 aces with five double faults and won 83% of points on the first serve and 43% on the second. Rublev had the following statistics on the receiving end: 31%/68%, winners/unforced errors 35/18.

Rublev and Shapovalov have played each other five times, all on hard court. In 2017, Rublev beat the Canadian at the Next Gen tournament. In 2019 Shapovalov won twice in Miami and Winston-Salem. In 2020 and 2021, Rublev won twice in St. Petersburg and Abu Dhabi. Andrey has the advantage. However, Rublev has never yet beaten the Canadian in the United States.

If Shapovalov plays as well against Rublev as he did against Husler and Carballes Baena before that, we doubt the Canadian will be the winner of this duel. All the more that Rublev himself is gaining form during the tournament. At least in his match against Kwon, Rublev was much more confident than against Djere. The players don't differ much in their skills, which is obvious also from the head-to-head statistics. This fact prompts at betting on Total Over. As for the outcome, we are on the side of the world No. 11 and offer the following betting options:

H2 (-2.5) for 1.74 at 1xbet;
