Andy Murray
Andy Murray was supposed to play Sebastian Korda in the first round, but the American withdrew due to an injury. Instead, he was pitted against Roman Safiullin. The Russian moved up a break to lead 3-1 in the first set, but the former World No. 1 tied the score in the following game.
After that, the pair held their serve admirably, forcing a tie-break, which Safiullin won. Murray was under pressure early in the second set, needing to save five break points in the third game, but he held serve. The Brit then broke serve in the sixth set to go ahead 4-2. He had more than enough advantage to win the set and force a deciding.
Safiullin took a 4-1 lead in the final set and appeared to be on his way to triumph, but Murray had other intentions. The three-time Major champion won the next five games to win 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-4.
