Nadal began the 2022 season with a bang, winning three consecutive titles, including the Australian Open. His unbeaten streak of 20 matches came to an end in the final of the Indian Wells Masters, where he was defeated by Taylor Fritz. He also suffered an injury during the match, causing him to miss the start of the clay season.
After then, Nadal didn't compete much. He did not win a match in Cincinnati, but he did go to the fourth round of the US Open. He was eliminated from the Paris Masters without a victory. His losing trend continued in the ATP Finals, when he was eliminated after losing his first two round-robin matches. He finished his season on a high note, beating Casper Ruud.
Cameron Norrie
In his opening singles match at the United Cup, Norrie played Australia's Alex de Minaur. He had to save three break points early in the first set, but quickly turned the tables on his opponent by breaking his service. On his route to winning the set, the Brit built a 4-1 lead that he never lost.
The 27-year-old remained in command of the match, breaking de Minaur's serve twice in the second set to win 6-3, 6-3.
Expert Betting Tips
In the head-to-head, Nadal leads Norrie 4-0. He won their previous meeting in straight sets at the 2022 Mexican Open. If the struggle lasts too long, the British may have the upper hand. However, Nadal has recovered from several setbacks in the past. Norrie will not go down quietly, but the Spaniard should be able to rise to the occasion.
