Pedro Cachin of Argentina, who used to only compete on the Challenger circuit until last year, has made great progress this season. This year, the 27-year-old has won four Challenger championships and finished as the runner-up in three others.
He made his Grand Slam main-draw debut at the French Open, where he went on to win a round. Cachin performed much better at the US Open, reaching the third round. His achievements propelled him to a career-high ranking of 55.
Cachin came in Austrian city after winning rounds in both Naples and Gijon in recent weeks. He qualified for the main draw of this ATP 500 tournament after defeating Alejandro Tabilo and Quentin Halys in three sets apiece.
Cameron Norrie
Norrie has had a fantastic season, as seen by his 47-24 win-loss record this year. The British star's season has been highlighted by victories in Lyon and Delray Beach. The southpaw also finished second at Acapulco and Los Cabos.
The 27-year-old reached the second week of two Majors this year, with his finest achievement being a run to the Wimbledon last four.
Norrie has also appeared in six quarterfinals this season, the most recent being in Stockholm last week. The World No. 13 was defeated by eventual champion Holger Rune, thereby ending his ATP Finals qualifying aspirations, and he will be hungry to go deeper in Vienna.
