Kyle Edmund vs Casper Ruud Prediction: Another solid start for Ruud?

One of the matches of the US Open's last 132 will be the duel between the British Kyle Edmund and the Norwegian Casper Ruud. The guys have never crossed paths, and the bookmakers are on the Norwegian side, leaving almost no chance for the Brit to win.

Kyle Edmund

Once a top 30 player, Kyle is now only the No.601 in the world. The Briton played six matches in three tournaments in August. In Washington, Kyle outplayed Watanuki but lost to his compatriot Evans. In Columbus, he defeated O'Hoisin but lost to Ross. In Winston-Salem, he knocked out the Greek Pervolarakis but fell to Bonzi in a two-set match. Obviously, Kyle is very far from his former glory and skills.

Casper Ruud

For Casper, the US Open is the third hard-court tournament after the ground part. In Montreal, the Norwegian reached the semifinals, beat Molchan, Bautista-Agut, and Auger-Aliassime, but lost in three sets to Hurkacz. But the Scandinavian fell in Cincinnati, giving Shelton his first match at the tournament in two sets. In 2022 Ruud won three clay tournaments. The Norwegian has only won once on hard court, in 2021 in San Diego. And last year at the US Open, Ruud reached the second round, knocking Sugita out of the draw in three sets but falling to van de Zandschulp.

Expert Betting Tips

Surely Ruud would like to improve his result at the American Major, so getting off to a good start at the tournament is crucial. By the way, last year, Casper began confidently in the New York tournament. Sugita did not have a chance even for a set, let alone a match. Edmund is a potentially strong player, but his current condition is not excellent, to say the least. We doubt Kyle will fight against one of the strongest tennis players on the planet.
