The US Open has arrived and it has been a Grand Slam that has been in play since the 19th century, having a heralded history. This marks the celebration of some of the best talents in the world that put on a show but when it comes to the WTA, the top rankings usually don’t play a huge role and the scene is pretty much wide-open. The festivities will be peaking when Caroline Garcia hits the floor against Kamilla Rakhimova.

Caroline Garcia
Seasoned veteran Garcia has found great touch entering the US Open. She comes into the tournament after a momentum boost run during Cincinnati Masters where she claimed the title. She defeated Petra Kvitova, Jessica Pegula, Aryna Sabalenka, Elise Mertens, and Maria Sakkari in what was an awe-inspiring run. Garcia also claimed the Poland Open title earlier where she beat Iga Swiatek and Jasmine Paolini among the heavyweight players. During Wimbledon, she did beat Emma Raducanu and Shuai Zhang but her run was ended by Maria Bouzkova in the Round of 16.
Overall, the last two-three months have been highly productive for Garcia who has shot up in the rankings. She enters the Grand Slam with a 17th seeded position which implies that she is considered one of the top players. This has surprised some xpertts who through Carolina’s best days were behind her but the French stalwart is close to reaching the top-ten rankings like she did in 2018. She is yet to make it past the Third Round of US Open historically for the offensive baseliner.
Kamilla Rakhimova
21-year-old Russian player Kamilla has had to earn her chops thus far and had to battle through the Qualifiers to make it thus far. She entered the Qualifiers as the sixth-seed and defeated Erika Andreeva, Marine Bassola Ribiera, and Raluca Georgina Serban to make it this far with those of those three games being close affairs. Kamilla comes into the tournament after claiming the ITF USA 36A title, but has struggled against highly valued WTA players mostly.
She attained the career-best ranking of 90 in singles just last week and that means she has been pumped up. While ITF success has been impressive, the WTA scene is a different one, however, Emma Raducanu’s last year run as an unseeded as well as a low-ranked player is an inspirational case for someone so young like Rakhimova. Will Kamilla be able to break Garcia here?
Caroline Garcia vs Kamilla Rakhimova Head-to-Head
This is the second battle between Garcia and Rakhimova and Caroline won in two sets when the two last time met in this year’s BAD Homburg Open.
Expert Betting Tips
There is no doubt that Garcia will be the hot favorite to win this battle and that is obvious, she has defeated top-level players regularly, has one of the most aggressive games that bodes well in WTA plus her services can be overwhelming for an unseasoned player. Caroline has defeated Kamilla once who is yet to polish some of her skills, and I believe she will win this one too in two sets.
