The Ostrava Open saw battles that are worthy of being put up with the ones we see during the Grand Slams. New arrivals to the scene Alycia Parks and Caty McNally made some great impressions but the heavyweights have made it to the Final rounds. Now, we are into the Final and in the deciding game, Polish Iga Swiatek takes on Czechia’s Barbora Krejcikova.

Iga had to call upon every ounce of her energy in the Semi-Final game against Ekaterina Alexandrova. She won 7-6, 2-6, 6-4 in what was a seesaw battle. Ekaterina took multiple points in a row and forced Swiatek to up her game with each minute. Iga’s serve was just a tad off in the beginning but she recovered her way in the middle and after a sub-par second set, she turned around.
She had a 73% first serve but Ekaterina was close behind with 69%. Both players were close in terms of the winners on the first and second serve. As a matter of fact, Alexandrova won 13 service games compared to 12 by Iga. Still, in the end, Iga took the game. Swiatek came into the tournament after her US Open triumph and continues to surge ahead of the rest of the players with her deep runs.
Barbora Krejcikova
Barbora had a fair deal of trouble coming here too as a pesky Elena Rybakina took her to the task. She did win 3-6, 7-6, 6-4, but it took a lot to get past Elena. Elena’s power game overwhelmed her throughout the contest as she conceded a whopping 17 Aces but her own aggressiveness paid off well too. She had some trouble playing a clean game and committed 9 double faults, which almost spelled her doom.
The contest was really close as both teams won 16 Games with Elena winning 14 Service Games and Barbora winning 13 of them. Barbora kept her cool in the last set and somehow advanced ahead. Krejcikova came into this tournament after winning Tallinn Open and that huge turnaround has once again injected energy into her career. Can Krejcikova beat the giant of the game though?

Iga and Barbora have met twice and Barbora is yet to beat Iga.
Expert Betting Tips
Both players barely held out during their bouts in the Semis and there is no doubt that this is a top-notch game to end the tournament. Swiatek will be fancied here for obvious reasons but Barbora can’t be taken lightly with all her experience and with all her wins against top players. She is yet to beat Swiatek but you never know when there is a big turnaround. I believe Iga will avoid the turnarounds here and add another title to her fat collection.
