The final stage of the ATP Kitzbuhel is here and the two players to make it to this stage are Hugo Gaston and Matteo Berrettini. Both players have had a fantastic run throughout the tournament and now they will challenge each other for the title.
Hugo Gaston was able to advance through the last round by automatic call after Facundo Diaz Acosta called an early retirement halfway into the semi final match, while Matteo Berrettini defeated Yannick Hanfmann in the semi final round to enter the final stage.

French player Hugo Gaston will have a shot at another trophy as he enters the final match of the ATP KItzbuhel in Austria. He is going to challenge Matteo Berrettini in the final stage and this will be the second meeting against Berrettini in his career. He lost the first meeting back in March at the Phoenix Challenger in the USA.
Hugo Gaston’s campaign started with a win over Daniel Altmaier in the round of 32. He defeated Altmaier in 3 sets (6-4,6-7,6-4) to progress into the round of 16. In the round of 16 he challenged and defeated Roberto Carballes Baena in straight sets (6-2,7-6) to advance into the quarter finals. In the quarter finals, he defeated Sebastian Baez in 3 sets (5-7,7-5,6-7) and finally he got into the semi final and advanced over Facundo Diaz Acosta. The latter retired earlier in the game due to injury concerns and Hugo Gaston was declared winner automatically.
Matteo Berrettini
Matteo Berrettini will fight for the last time to claim the ATP Kitzbuhel title after such a fantastic run in the tournament until the final. His opponent is Hugo Gaston and he is familiar with Gaston’s game after the two players faced each other in March at the Phoenix Challenger in the USA.
Matteo Berrettini had an excellent run in the tournament and he remains the only player to win all matches in straight sets. So if anyone deserves to win the title, it’s got to be Matteo Berrettini. His campaign started with a win over Pavel Kotov in the round of 32 (7-6,7-6) to advance into the round of 16. And in the round of 16, he continued with another win over Alejandro Tabilo (7-6,7-6). Then in the quarter finals he challenged Nicolas Moreno de Alboran and won 6-7,3-6 to advance into the semi final. And in the semi final Matteo Berrettini didn’t disappoint as he defeated Yannick Hanfmann by 4-6,4-6.

In terms of form in the competition, Matteo Berrettini is the obvious favorite to win this match for his excellent performance. He is yet to lose a single set since his first match in the round of 32 and that’s enough to put him under the spotlight in this final match against Hugo Gaston.
