On Tuesday, November 1st, Hubert Hurkacz of Poland will face France's Adrian Mannarino in the opening round of the 2022 Paris Masters.
Hubert Hurkacz
Hubert Hurkacz is currently chasing the ATP Finals in Turin, where he competed last year. To get there, he'll need to put up a really great performance, far better than what he did in Vienna last week. He played well in Vienna, but he missed too many opportunities as Borna Coric upset him in the quarter-finals.
Hurkacz has had a good year overall, with a 40-20 record, but there haven't been any huge results. He did compete in the Montreal final, but he was defeated by Pablo Carreno Busta. Hurkacz has been playing a lot of tennis lately in order to collect enough points for the Finals, but his results have been inconsistent.
With a semi-final in Metz, the indoor record is 8-5. Astana had been a quarter-final, Antwerp had been a quarter-final, and now Vienna had been added to the list. Overall, he did well, but he missed the huge outcome of a final or victory, which would have given him a significant increase in points.
Adrian Mannarino
Adrian Mannarino is struggling to finish the season, and the Frenchman has had a relatively dismal season overall. The total record is 31-31, and it was a little better until this last run of dismal outcomes.
He lost in round one in Metz, which was unusual given that he often performs well both indoors and on local soil. Then he lost in the first round of Tel Aviv, Astana was a bit better with a quarter-final, but then he lost in the first round of Napoli and Basel back-to-back.
He is definitely battling with his tennis and his confidence, which will not assist him much against Hurkacz, who normally offers players very little chances, but perhaps playing back home in France will instill some confidence in him that he can do it.
Expert Betting Tips
Hubert Hurkacz should have an easy time in this match. He didn't look fantastic lately, but his level was still far superior to Mannarino's.
