On Friday, world No. 25 Holger Rune will face qualifier Arthur Rinderknech in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Swiss Indoors.

Rune comes in Basel fresh off a title-winning performance at the Stockholm Open. In the first round, he overcame Alex de Minaur, and in the second round, he faced Ugo Humbert.
Both players started well in the first set, but Humbert was the first to falter, being broken in the ninth game. Rune easily served out the set to grab a one-set lead.
Rune took an early break to take a 2-0 lead in the second set. After his opponent's serve was held, he won three games in a row to increase his advantage to 5-1. Soon later, the youngster won 6-4, 6-2 and advanced to his sixth quarterfinal of the season.
Arthur Rinderknech
Arthur Rinderknech defeated Jason Kubler and Constant Lestienne to go to the main draw in Basel. In the first round, he faced 2014 US Open winner Marin Cilic, whom he defeated in three sets to progress. In the second round, the Frenchman faced Alex Molcan.
In the opening set, the two were originally even on serve, but Rinderknech lifted his game, winning four games in a row to take the set. In the second set, he was the first to go up a break, but Molcan came back to tie it 2-2.
Rinderknech broke serve again in the seventh game to take a 4-3 lead. He served out the match after another two of games to win 6-2, 6-4. He has already reached his sixth quarterfinal of the season.

The two players have fairly comparable capabilities, although Rune appears to be going through a purple phase. He's been hitting the ball brilliantly and responding to every challenge thrown his way by his opponents. Expect the youngster to keep winning against Rinderknech as well.
