France, Paris.
World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas will face ATP No. 2 Daniil Medvedev in the men’s Roland Garros quarter-finals. The men have played well together, meeting seven times on tour, including this season at the Australian Open. In Melbourne, Daniil beat the Greek, but despite these statistics, bookmakers are siding with Tsitsipas in the pairing, with the know-it-all believing that Medvedev has very little chance of winning the final match on Tuesday.
Stefanos Tsitsipas: 8-match winning streak
Stefanos has not lost eight matches in a row. Tsitsipas last lost to Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters on May 15. The Greek has since triumphed in the 250 series event in Lyon and has made four rounds of the current Roland Garros. On the outskirts of Paris, Tsitsipas is looking good as the Greek has lost just one set in four matches so far, to John Isner in the third round. And yet John is looking very good on the clay court in 2021. Besides the American, Tsitsipas knocked out Chardy, Martinez Portero and Carreño-Busta.
Daniil Medvedev: Best Roland Garros of his career
There is no doubt this year’s Roland Garros is the best performance Medvedev has had at a Grand Prix Major in his entire career. Up until 2021, it was as if Daniil had been cursed, with the Russian dropping four tournaments in a row after the first round. Now, one can even dream of a semi-final. Yes, Stefanos is one of the newsmakers of the tournaments on the clay this season, but after all, Daniil has experience of beating the Greek not only on the hard courts but also on the clay courts. Medvedev beat Tsitsipas 2-1 in Monte Carlo in 2019.
Expert Betting Tips
Tsitsipas is a dangerous opponent. The Greek is in great form, it is not for nothing that Stefanos is quoted among the favourites at Roland Garros. However, in this match, we are on the side of the Russian. I can remember how four months ago Daniil crushed the Greek in the semi-finals of the Australian Open. It lasted over two hours and Stefanos beat Medvedev in 11 games and 0 sets. Medvedev is very confident in this Roland Garros, we hope that we will see Daniil not only in the quarterfinal but also in the semifinal. Here are the odds for this match: Total Over 37.0 for 1.83, Handicap 2 (+5) for 1.76, W2 for 2.97.
