Daniel Evans has been able to elevate his level in the last three months after being inconsistent at the start of the season, and he is completing the season with respectable stats.
He has a 16-10 record since the start of the American tour in August, with trips to the semifinals in Montreal and San Diego, as well as quarterfinal finishes in Washington, Antwerp, and Vienna. The last two occurred this month in back-to-back events.
This year, the 32-year-old has won one Challenger tournament on grass in Nottingham. He has yet to reach a tour-level final this season, although he has reached three semifinals, including one in Sydney at the start of the season.
Evans, ranked no. 26, will be competing in his third Paris Masters, but has yet to win a match. He has reached the semifinals of two ATP 1000 events, one of which being this year's Canadian Open. He'll be looking for his first victory in Paris and then building from there.
Brandon Nakashima
Brandon Nakashima, like Evans, has had respectable success in recent months. While the Briton has yet to reach a final this year, Nakashima has already done so and won his first championship.
Last month, he was named champion in San Diego after defeating Marcos Giron. His finest performance since then has been a run to the final eight in Florence.
This week in Basel, he defeated David Goffin in the first round before falling to San Wawrinka in the second.
This season, Nakashima has an overall record of 36-25, which includes a championship and six quarterfinal appearances. This will be his first appearance in the Paris Masters. So far, the 21-year-record old's at ATP 1000 tournaments has been unimpressive.
He has only won three prior ATP 1000 matches and has yet to get past the second round. Can he create a strong first impression in Paris?
Expert Betting Tips
Dan Evans will have a little advantage over the American. He has the expertise, particularly from competing in large tournaments like this, and he is also in good shape. In Paris Matsers, he should achieve his first win.
