Dalma Galfi
Dalma Galfi, a 24-year-old Hungarian, has also made personal history in the event by making it this far.
Her voyage began with a brilliant, straight-set victory over Nuria Parrizas-Diaz, 6-4, 6-3.
Galfi, who is presently ranked World No. 91, has had a significantly better season than Dart, with a record of 30-16. Her career highlights include winning the ITF Ilkley Trophy and finishing second in the Contrexeville Challenger.
Interestingly, Dalma did not compete in any of the prior US Open swing tournaments, and this is her first competition since last month's Hungarian Grand Prix. Dart has had some experience performing in Washington DC, Cincinnati, Toronto, and Granby, so this may be a challenge.
Harriet Dart
Harriet Dart, 26, has just recorded one of the biggest wins of her career by defeating World No. 9 Daria Kasatkina.
The Russian arrived in New York with two recent championships from Granby and San Jose, but Dart stunned her in the first round of the US Open, winning 7-6(10), 1-6, 6-3.
More remarkably, Kasatkina's poor performance did not prove to be her undoing. Harriet was clearly a cut above the rest, earning 36 victories to Kasatkina's 24.
The No. 88-ranked British player has also achieved her greatest finish at Flushing Meadows, reaching round two for the first time.
Her season record is at 23-22, with the majority of her losses coming in the first round. She has impressed in a few tournaments, most notably reaching the round of 16 at Indian Wells (as a qualifier) and the quarterfinals in Eastbourne.

Dart should win this match since she has momentum, form, and experience. She'll be on cloud nine after defeating a top-ten player, and she certainly appears ready to keep the celebration going.
