Gauff comes into the tournament after seeing her campaign end in the second round against Anastasia Potapova during the Stuggart Open. Potapova also ended her campaign during Miami Open, once again in the second round. Sabalenka handed her a lop-sided loss during the Fourth Round of Indian Wells Masters. She was defeated in Semis by Iga Swiatek in Dubai Tennis Championships. During her last Grand Slam, she was defeated by Jelena Ostapenko in the fourth round. Gauff is just 19 and she has already garnered a lot of experience so her resume looks great for her age.
Irene Burillo Escorihuela
Irene enters the match-up after defeating Kaia Kanepi, the experienced Estonian veteran 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 in one of the most remarkable wins of her career. Irene is currently ranked at 318 and has never gone above 207th rank in the WTA circuit. She entered the tournament as the Qualifier but has showcased tremendous grit. She is a successful ITF Player, having won four single’s titles.

Irene has stormed her way to the Round of 64 and this has been the best phase of her WTA career. Cori’s power-hitting will be packing more heat than Kanepi so Irene will be in all sorts here. I back Cori to win this in two sets.
