Borna Coric vs Alexander Bublik Prediction: Bublik has his hands on the title already!

Borna Coric and Alexander Bublik make it to the final game of the ATP Montpellier tournament this year. Both players have been excellent throughout the tournament. This will be the second meeting between both players. Their first meeting was ATP Halle Germany. Alexander Bublik won that game, knocking Borna Coric in the round of 32. With just 10 places between them on the ATP rankings, both players match each other in several ways and it would be interesting to see which player can edge out the other in this final.

Borna Coric

Borna Coric is a 27-year-old Croatia international who currently ranks in 37 place on the ATP rankings. His highest career ranking was 12 in 2018. Borna Coric has 3 singles titles to his name since he turned pro in 2013. Borna Coric helped Croatia win the Davis Cup in 2018 and he also defeated Federer to win the 2018 Halle title. And then in 2022, he knocked out Rafael Nadal in the 2nd round of the ATP Cincinnati and went on to win the title.

Borna Coric came into this year's ATP Montpellier in the round of 16, defeating Pedro Martinez in straight sets. Then in the quarter finals he faced Cobolli Flavio in straight sets to make it to the semifinals. And in the Semifinals, he played against Holger Rune who sadly retired early from the game after picking up an injury. 

Alexander Bublik

Alexander Bublik is a 26-year-old Kazakhstan tennis player who currently ranks in 27th place. In 2020, Alexander Bublik made it to the Australian Open doubles and in the 2021 Roland Garros doubles final. He was runner up in the 2019 ATP Newport, 2019 ATP Chengdu, ATP Antalya 2021, ATP Singapore 2021, ATP Newport 2022 and ATP Metz 2022. 

Finally he won his first title at the ATP Montpellier and currently Alexander Bublik has 3 career titles to his name.

Bublik came into this tournament at the quarter finals game, beating fellow countryman Alexander Shevchenko 2-1. And in the Semifinals, he defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime. Alexander Bublik recovered perfectly after a first set defeat against Felix to complete a great comeback.

Head to Head

Borna Coric and Alexander Bublik have played against each other once before, at the ATP Halle last year. Alexander Bublik won that game in straight sets to advance to the Round 16.

Analysis and Predictions

I think both players deserve their flowers for getting to this stage. But I am inclined to lean towards Alexander Bublik in this game. He seems determined to get his hands on the trophy, and it was clearly evident in his match against Felix in the previous round. He also knows how Borna Coric plays and he has the advantage over Borna.
