Barbora has been tabbed as the number-one seed for the tournament and under the current circumstance, she is surely a favorite to win this tournament. Krejcikova defeated Francesca Di Lorenzo 6-3, 6-1 in a game where she did enter as an overwhelming favorite. Barbora’s first serve was on song during the game as she managed a 79% on the first serve and had a massive 31-13 receiving points advantage.
This has been a tough period for Barbora who has been ousted in mostly the first round in more than 50% of instances lately. Earlier this year, she had been a top-two player but in the last few months, she has dropped to 23 and it is clear that she needs a big boost ahead of the US Open. She is amazing at influencing the playing style of the opponent and her second serve has been in shambles.
Bernarda Pera
Bernarda enters the game after the 6-1, 6-2 win against Eri Hozumi as she registered an impressive 74% win on the first serve. She had 6/8 breakpoints and extracted a huge 31-16 receiving points advantage. She also notched 27-20 service points in a big way. The Croatian-born USA player has had to do a lot of heavy lifting but has made impressive runs in tournaments that may not feature the usual heavyweights but still has long-time WTA players.
The 27-year-old reached the Final of the Thoreau Tennis Open where she lost to Coco Vandeweghe. She won the German Open, beating an out-of-sorts Anett Kontaveit to win the title. Before that, she also won the Hungarian open after having entered as a Qualifier. Because of these impressive results, Pera has reached the 51 rank and this has been the best performance of her WTA career.

Barbora and Pera have met three times during the Doubles and in the Singles leg, this will be their first meeting. Bernarda is in the purple patch and although performances during Grand Slams leave a lot of room for improvement, she has gotten it done in other facets. Will Krejcikova break her recent slump against a surging Pera? I do think so!
