The US Open has been in a great flow during the last few days and we have already advanced to the second round in what has been an electric start. As usual, the WTA scene has thrown us curveballs and you can’t dodge tricky betting scenarios as you dash along the competition. To denote the Second Round, Anna Kalinskaya is going to take on Caroline Garcia.

Anna Kalisnkaya
Anna had a relatively easy win in the first round as she defeated Rebecca Peterson 6-4, 6-3 in what was an incredible effort to begin things. She had an amazing 80% first serve and converted 81% of winners on first serve while a whopping 100% on second serve. Courtesy of that, she also had an incredible 29-9 receiving points advantage and at one point, she ended up winning 3 games in a row.
Anna has hit her peak and has been ranked at 60 by the WTA system. This is her career-best effort and she is still just 23 so the promise to climb up further is only high. Anna has never made it past the Second Round of US Open but her play has improved than the preceding years. She has had some impressive wins against the likes of Karolina Pliskova this year on the Hard surface, so that bodes well for her chances here.
Caroline Garcia
Garcia is the epitome of consistency and comes into this game after defeating Kamila Rakhimova 6-2, 6-4 in a game where she was the favorite to come through. She nailed 6 Aces and had an unbelievable first serve percentage of 87, hitting 83% win on the first serve and 80% on second serve. She had an awesome 28-9 receiving points advantage and at one point, won three games in a row.
Garcia entered the tournament as the 17th seed and one of the major reasons for the uptick in the ranking was her WTA title win during Cincinatti Masters where she defeated Petra Kvitova in the Finals. Earlier, she had beaten Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, and maria Sakkari as well. Caroline is someone who has been at the top before and the current run is barely a surprise to me.
Anna Kalinskaya vs Caroline Garcia Head-to-Head
Anna and Caroline last met in Kuala Lampur in 2017 where Anna won 7-5, 6-2. Can she repeat that performance here?
Expert Betting Tips
Anna has been playing well this year but Garcia has been even better. Historically, Garcia has done well moving past the few first rounds but Anna’s composure can give her some trouble here. How much trouble? That can’t be predicted in the WTA scene where betting is as tenuous as it gets. But still, I’d like to back Garcia to win in three sets with Anna giving a fightback in one of those sets.
