Albert Ramos' struggles on hard courts are nothing new, and have been for many years, almost since the Spaniard's prime. Ramos is a difficult player to handle in general, but he is primarily a concern on clay courts for stronger players, nearly ousting Alcaraz from the French Open earlier this year.

The Spaniard's game is just well-balanced on that surface and does not work on any other. He's still trying and playing hard, which is admirable, but his current losing streak inside demonstrates that it's not happening.

In the first round, he had poor performances against Astana, Gijon, and Napoli, but he was competitive at moments.

He'll take it if given the chance, so Musetti must tread carefully in this one. Ramos will be hoping for a tired Italian after a hard and emotional week in Napoli, and if he gets a nasty Musetti, expect Ramos to triumph.

Lorenzo Musetti did not start this year as anything approximating a decent hard court player, but the Italian has made significant development in every aspect. He's lot more confidence in his tennis; he's as excellent on clay as he's ever been, and his hard-court game has improved tremendously, with his forehand now looking like a legitimate weapon.

A watershed moment for the Italian came earlier this year in Hamburg, when he astonished the world by easily defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final. It was a prize that boosted his self-esteem to new heights, and he's been excellent ever since.

39-24 overall, with a definite preference for clay tennis over other surfaces, but his performance in Napoli demonstrates that he's considerably better on the surface than most believe.

He'll get another chance to demonstrate that in Vienna, where he's never played before.

I don't think Musetti will be too exhausted after his Napoli exploits, so I expect him to finish this in two sets.
