Following the injury of fellow former Wallaby Sekope Kepu, Christian Leali'ifano will take over as Moana Pasifika skipper in place of Reed Prinsep.

Following Saturday's painful loss to the Crusaders, Hurricanes coach Jason Holland has placed his whole support behind captain Ardie Savea. Savea chose to forego a straightforward penalty chance at goal, which would have pushed the game into extra time, in order to score the game-winning try. However, the strategy backfired when Scott Barrett played spoiler in the lineout and Savea's protests to the refereeing team were ignored.
With Savea out, Reed Prinsep will captain the Hurricanes, while Christian Leali'ifano will take over for fellow former Wallaby Sekope Kepu as Moana Pasifika captain following the injury to the prop.
