On the night of May 7, Atlantic City will host another PFL tournament, this time the heavyweights will enter the season. In the main fight of the night, former UFC champion and simply legendary fighter Fabricio Werdum will fight unknown Renan Ferreira.
Fabricio Werdum: “I’ll finish him in the first round.”
The living legend of modern MMA, Fabricio Werdum is already 43 years old and he was politely escorted out of the UFC. And the results of his fights lately can by no means be called a failure.
When asked how he manages to be in such great shape at the age of 43, Fabricio answered like this:
I can’t tell you that secret, because if I tell you, it wouldn’t be a secret anymore. No, I’m kidding, I’m kidding. The secret is just smart training. When you’re very young, you just train nonstop. Now it’s very important to do smart training. You have to use your experience, it’s very important, all together. But I don’t have a secret. Just training.
Traditionally, everyone thinks Werdum is a great jiu jitsuer (in fact, he is), but they forget about his punching skills. They’re not bad either, by the way.
In general, his current opponent is a different fighter, who was lucky to fight the Legend. Ferreira has little chance, especially since Fabricio himself is very serious:
Yes, he’s very tall, but I fought a Russian who was also tall, I have no problem with such opponents. I don’t care, because you have to chop the tree at the root, I’m going to try to knock him down or send him down. I’m aiming for six points. We have a point system here, as you know, and if I finish him in the first round, that’s good for me. I have a good strategy. The opponent is big and dangerous, but you have to be careful in any fight.
Renan Ferreira: little-known is an understatement
This guy has a 4-2 record, and he fought in the middle of nowhere and it’s not clear who he fought. The only thing that can be told in his favor is that his two previous fights were in LFA.
He lost one fight in that league due to an illegal punch and won the second one by choking Jared Vanderaa with a triangle, who was fist-bumped by Sergey Spivak in February, already in the UFC.
Expert Betting Tips
In the prediction for this fight, all we have to decide is how fast Werdum will destroy his opponent. The odds on Total Over/Under 1.5 are about the same - 1.80 and 1.90. We suggest betting on Total Under, as Fabricio is determined.
If you prefer to bet on the outcome of the fight, you can bet on Werdum’s win at odds of 1.35, on Ferreira’s win at 2.94.
