On September 3, the UFC will make only its second trip to Paris, and the main event will feature a fight for the vacant heavyweight title between Ciryl Gane and Serghei Spivak. Gane, who is from France, will be looking for redemption after suffering a crushing loss to Jon Jones back in March. Jones submitted Gane in the first round of their fight. On the other hand, Moldovan Spivak will look forward to his fourth consecutive victory after two knockouts via technical knockout and one submission victory.

The previous time we saw Ciryl Gane compete, the former interim heavyweight champion took on Jon Jones for the undisputed championship after Francis Ngannou had relinquished his crown. Ciryl Gane had great expectations of producing a memorable victory, but unfortunately he appeared to be overmatched, and in just two minutes he was brought down, strangled out, and knocked out. Gane has not competed since then since the defeat was so humiliating, despite the fact that Jon Jones is considered one of the best fighters of all time. Gane, on the other hand, needs to win this fight in order to get back on track after his defeat at the hands of Jones. He has fought and won 13 matches, including victories over notable competitors such as Tanner Boser, Junior dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Alexander Volkov, and Derrick Lewis. His experience is solid. Gane's stand-up fighting style is incredibly adaptable, and his kickboxing is quite dangerous. We were able to observe that despite his gigantic size, he had respectable reflexes and speed, and we are also aware that his chin projects a highly defiant attitude.
Serghei Spivak - Spivak needs to be in his best again
After making his octagon debut looking practically like a tomato can, Sergey Spivak has greatly improved into one of the more dangerous heavyweights on the roster. At the moment, Sergey Spivak is on a three-fight winning streak, and he is considered to be one of the better fighters in the division. Since suffering his first defeat at the hands of Walt Harris, 'The Polar Bear' has amassed a record of eight wins and just two defeats. After defeating Tai Tuivasa, Greg Hardy, and Derrick Lewis, he is now ranked seventh in the division; however, if he is successful in this match, he will be able to enter the running for the championship. Spivak is an accomplished grappler and wrestler; seven of his victories have come by some form of submission. He possesses a high fighting IQ and is able to adapt his strategy to various circumstances while the fight is still ongoing. His wrestling is, in general, the most important aspect of his game. It is from this position that he either scores points or crushes the defense of his opponent before moving on to ground and pound.

While Ciryl Gane had previously been successful against striking-heavy opponents like Lewis and Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Ngannou was able to outwork him on the mat. Spivak isn't as skilled as Jon Jones in the ring, but can his takedowns compare to those of Ngannou? Once in top position, Serghei Spivak is deadly, and he can easily finish his opponents from the mount or the rear mount. However, he is far smaller than Gane, and a footfight between them would be a mismatch. Spivak is too slow to handle Gane's combo strikes, and his knockout defeats to Harris and Tom Aspinall indicate that his chin isn't exactly rock solid. Gane has the home-field advantage and is three inches taller than Sergey Spivak, making him the more physically dominant fighter. Sergey Spivak landing an early takedown would be disastrous, but Gane establishing his range and bullying the Moldovan on the way to a knockout feels like the safer pick.
