Sweden has had mixed success in major international tournaments at the U20. They have won the title only twice - in 1981 and again in 2012, when Mika Zibanejad scored the only goal in overtime to beat Russia 1-0. They have not got the title since and finished fourth at the last World Cup. Tre Kronor played well in the group stage, defeating the Latvians, Germans, and Canadians in the first three matches (13-0). But the day before, they lost to the Finns in a penalty shootout - 5-4, and still took first place in Group A.
Switzerland
The Swiss team is not used to solving big problems. At the last championship, they did surprisingly well in the group stage, winning three of four matches, but suffered a crushing 9-1 defeat to the Czechs in the quarterfinals. In 2024 FIFA, the Reds and Whites may not fight for the top spots, but they have already accomplished the bare minimum. In their four matches, the team lost to the Slovaks, Americans, and Czechs (5-18) but beat the Norwegians 6-2. This success put the Swiss in fourth place in Group B.
Expert Betting Tips
The teams are on an entirely different level. For the Tre Kronor, this championship is special. They are the hosts and will certainly fight for the trophy as the second main favorites after the Americans. The visitors have already played their most important match, beating Norway, but they failed their other three games. They have lost 10 of their last 11 H2H encounters.
This confrontation is far from one-sided. Both teams are very attacking for all the difference in skills. In 11 head-to-head meetings, they shot 81 pucks (7.36 on average) - a decent figure by international competition standards. Most importantly, both teams have scored at least two goals nine times.
