It was an amazing win. 4-0 in the first period and a blowout to the vaunted Hurricanes. Perhaps such an easy win against the second-best team in the conference, relaxed Florida. Andrew Brunette’s team went on the road, first losing 3-4 to the New York Rangers and then nearly getting blown out by New Jersey 3-7. It was a disappointing result, but it did not prevent the Panthers from retaining the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
