Philadelphia vs Anaheim Prediction: the Underdogs Don't Look That Bad

Philadelphia suddenly becomes the league's outsider, not even trying to contend for the playoffs. Even veteran coach John Tortorella has been unable to get much out of a team that finished third from the bottom of the conference a year ago. The regular season has gone well for the Flyers so far: in seven meetings, they've only been held scoreless twice, losing to Ottawa and Vegas 5-2 and 3-2, respectively, and to Dallas 5-4 in overtime. The Penguins have won all four of their remaining games in regulation, which puts them in sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Anaheim

Anaheim has been another also-rans in recent years, unable to reach a new level after a lengthy rebuild. It would seem that the promising youngsters should be getting stronger, but so far those efforts have not been enough to compete for a playoff spot. In the early stages, the Californians are at least trying to keep up. In seven meetings, they have beaten Carolina 6-3, Columbus 3-2, and Boston 4-3, but four of their remaining games have been regulation losses. The Ducks currently sit in 11th place in the Western Conference.

Expect Betting Tips

Philadelphia and Anaheim are the underdogs, but they don't look too bad in the first round. The favorite is the Pennsylvania team, as the game will be played on the ice of the Wells Fargo Center. In this case, home arena advantage means a lot, as the Pennsylvanians have won all three home games (12-3). Furthermore, the Ducks have only won one of the last four meetings on the road.
