One of the NHL's most popular franchises hasn't been at the top for a long time. However, the previous season certainly inspired optimism in Red Wings fans. Montreal had a very bright game

The first game of the season turned out to be a glorious one for the Canadiens. Martin St. Louis's team battled back twice against bitter rival Toronto and eventually pulled out a win. Josh Anderson scored the decisive goal 19 seconds before the final siren. Cole Caufield scored a double for Montreal, and an experienced rookie Sean Monahan put in another goal. A great start to the championship!
