It seemed that they would continue to improve their situation. However, in late December, they still had a slump. In the last ten meetings, they suffered six defeats with four wins, because of which they fell to seventh in the Western Conference standings and, therefore, now risk leaving the Cup eight.

Dallas and Nashville continue to fight for cup spots, with the Texans looking a little better in the current regular season, sitting in the group of Western Conference leaders. At the same time, the Predators are forced to dwell on the edge of the playoff zone. They are the clear favorites in the upcoming clash despite an extra day of rest for the Yellow and Blue.
