Towards the end of the pre-season, Buffalo's main squad flew to Germany to open their new arena. There, the NHL side faced local rivals Munich, with whom they had no trouble 5:0. The games against Ottawa, Columbus, and Detroit were played with a full-strength squad, which Lindy Ruff can be 100% satisfied with. As for the Sabres' main squad, they are also fully prepared for the new season, as evidenced by their wins over Pittsburgh and Columbus.
New Jersey Devils
New Jersey played extremely poor hockey in the pre-season, which will be challenging to overcome in the regular season. The team suffered five defeats in six games, scoring 13 goals and allowing 23. This result is not so much alarming as disappointing. The team has all the resources to perform at a high level and compete, if not for the Stanley Cup, then for the later stages of the playoffs, and in reality, we are getting that. We shouldn't jump to conclusions, but the outlook for the first half of the regular season, at least, is not promising.
