At the previous two tournaments in a row, they reached the quarter-finals with the first seed, but even this fact did not help them reach the semi-finals. Now the scenario will change for them. That said, it cannot be said that the Red and Whites are playing poorly. On the contrary, they started the championship with victories over the Norwegians - 5:2, then beat the Austrians - 6:5, beat the Czechs on a shootout - 2:1, and then were stronger than the Great Britain and Denmark - 3:0 and 8:0, respectively. But the day before, they lost to the Canadians 2:3, which dropped them to third place in the Group A standings.
