LASK doesn’t have the best track record in Austrian football history. The Blacks and Whites have only ever won the national championship once. That was back in the 1964/65 season. They also won the country’s only cup. The last championship was also a good result for the Linz team, who finished third and had a chance to qualify for the Europa League. Unfortunately, they didn’t make it through the qualifiers, so now they’re playing in the general stage of the UEFA Conference League. In the opening round, they drew 2:2 with Djurgarden and then lost 0:2 to Olimpija. They’re not doing well in the national championship, either. The hosts only managed to gain 14 points in 12 rounds, enough for ninth place in the standings.
Cercle
And then there’s Cercle, who also has experience winning the national championship, but all three of their titles were won in the first half of the last century. Since then, the results have taken a bit of a turn for the worse, but in the previous draw of the Belgian Pro League, the visitors came in fourth, which means they’ll be playing in the UEL. They didn’t make it through to the second round of the European Cup, but they did qualify for the general stage of the UEFA Conference League. On top of that, the team beat St. Gallen 6:2 in the opening round but then lost to Vikingur 1:3. In the new round of the Belgian championship, Cercle isn’t playing their best, having earned 15 points in 13 rounds and currently sitting in 11th place.
Expert Betting Tips
LASK and Cercle Brugge performed well last season, which allowed them to qualify for the European Cup, but now both teams have considerable problems in their home championships. While the Belgians are starting to improve gradually, the Austrians are still struggling, as they won only once in four previous games. The Blacks and Whites will have difficulty counting on success in the upcoming encounter.
We have every reason to expect a high-scoring match. All sorts of statistics hint at this. For example, in all tournaments’ last ten games of LASK, there were 33 shots on goal (3.30 on average per game) - a solid figure. In the seven previous matches, Cercle scored 15 goals and conceded 9.
