A year earlier, the Eindhoven representatives left no chance of success to their rivals, finishing seven points ahead of their nearest rivals. Now they are trying to defend the title. We are used to Turin always solving the biggest problems, but they have gone through a serious personnel restructuring, and therefore Thiago Motta needs time to build a capable team. The Black and Whites have lost only once in 25 league outings, which is a success in itself, but they have also drawn 13 times, losing a lot of points. That's enough to sit in fourth place in the standings.
The Turin side also had a mixed performance in the Champions League. In eight rounds they have only three victories, being stronger than PSV - 3:1, Leipzig - 3:2, as well as Man City - 2:0. At the same time, there were draws with Lille - 1:1, Aston Villa - 0:0, Bruges - 0:0. In addition, they lost to Stuttgart and Benfica - 0:1 and 0:2, respectively. In total, they accumulated 12 points, which allowed them to finish in 20th place in the composite standings and make it to the round of 32 of the tournament.
The first match of the round of 32 was extremely difficult for the Italian team, but they managed to snatch victory in the end - 2:1. In the 82nd minute, Samuel Mbangula struck the PSV goal, which now allows Torino to have an advantage on the eve of the return battle.
