Looking at Liverpool's performance so far this season, they are only a great side on paper. The Merseysiders are only 9th in the EPL, and the defeat to Napoli in the Champions League group stage has damaged the vice-champions standing in England. Liverpool has a few losses in their squad, but they can make up for it. Andrew Robertson is the only one to be seriously regretted: the Scottish defender was injured and missed games against Ajax and Brighton. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn't appeared on the pitch so far this season. Ibrahima Konate dropped out before the start of the Premier League, and Curtis Jones only made one appearance after beating Manchester City in the FA Super Cup.
The day before, they drew 3:3 at home to Brighton. Liverpool lost by a 2-goal margin during the meeting, and the opponents failed to convert several goalscoring opportunities. The Merseysiders pulled themselves together and even took the lead, but Brighton got their concentration back in the closing stages. Roberto Firmino was Liverpool's top scorer with a double.
Rangers
This season, it is difficult to criticize the Rangers for anything. They have made it through two rounds of Champions League qualification and into the group stage, and they are in second place in the Scottish league. The club from Glasgow had only one setback, suffering three straight defeats. Back then, they conceded a combined total of 11 unanswered goals to Celtic, Napoli, and Ajax, shattering their place in the home league and, consequently, their chances of continuing in the European competition. Not all of the strongest players are fit to take to the pitch against Liverpool. The most severe loss is to midfielder James Sands, who was left out of the squad due to his suspension.
The team has been unbeaten in the last two rounds of the Scottish Premier League, and the day before, they beat Harts 4:0 on the road. Antonio Colák scored a double in the first half. Also worth mentioning for the Glasgow club was Ryan Kent, who scored a goal and assist. Kent spent several years in Liverpool's system, and the upcoming game will be particularly crucial for him.
Expert Betting Tips
Liverpool's defense against Brighton was awful to watch, and this could be an excellent chance for Rangers to finally score their first goal of the current Champions League campaign. The Merseysiders could well have conceded 2-3 goals from Ajax, a failure in the 1st round against Napoli also not erased from memory. The Scottish club is not yet impressive in European competitions; against Napoli, they looked helpless. Perhaps Rangers still worked on their mistakes during the international break, and last weekend's home league fixture proves it. The four goals scored by Harts were encouraging, although they won't be able to defend against a formidable opponent. The visitors might not even be able to achieve once, but a sensation is still possible.
