Simba SC play host to the reigning Tanzania Premier League Champions Young Africans at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Sunday. The hosts have had a clean bill since the season began, while the visitors experienced mixed fortunes in recent weeks. The Kariakoo Derby has always been a head-scratching fixture, and we expect nothing but an end-to-end encounter with lots of exciting moments.

Robertinho's men extended their unbeaten run across all competitions to fourteen matches when they scrapped their way out against a resilient Ihefu team. The first-half goal from Jean Baleke was canceled by the visitors, who, through Mgunda's goal, settled for a draw at halftime. Moses Phiri then scored his third of the season to hand his side a hard-fought three points.
The result came after their stalemate against Al Ahly in the AFL, and even though they were knocked out of the competition by the away goal rule, Simba were nothing short of exceptional.
Simba SC have maintained their record on their own turf in the league, having last lost against Young Africans since 2021.

The Yanga Boys continue to impress as they won their third consecutive game since the defeat against Ihefu. Not much of a threat from a strong Singida BS as Young Africans scored twice, which was enough to move them to the top spot. Before their convincing victory over Singida BS, they overcame a tough hurdle against a more formidable Azam FC side, which saw them secure three points in a five-goal thriller.
Stephane Aziz Ki has now scored in each of his last seven games in all competitions, taking his tally to nine goals in all competitions.
As Yanga Boys gear up for this Kariakoo Derby, it must be noted that they have managed just a win in their last two games on the road this season.

The Kariakoo Derby has produced lots of exciting matches, with Young Africans winning five and Simba securing four victories. Moreover, a total of eight games have ended in a share of the spoils. Simba SC's recent run has proven they'll be ready to unsit the reigning champions, and there are no better games to prove that if not against Young Africans. In fact, both sides have started well this season, with goals separating them on the log. This encounter has produced less than two goals over their previous eight meetings, and it’ll be hard to go against this record. Simba SC's last defeat on their ground was against the visitors. It’ll be interesting to know that both teams play on the same ground, and there is nothing like a home team or away team. It’s a tough call, but we expect both sides to settle for a total of under 2.5 goals for 1.59.
This encounter might even end in a halftime draw for 1.95.
Personally, Simba SC have impressed me the most this season, and I would like to trust them with a win over a strong Young African side for 2.26.
Good luck!
