Orlando Pirates vs Kaizer Chiefs Prediction: The Buccaneers can do the double over their arch-rival

On Saturday, South Africa comes to a standstill when the Buccaneers face off against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium. The highly-anticipated Soweto Derby will feature Orlando Pirates, who are yet to taste defeat in 2024 and Kaizer Chiefs, who seem to have been struggling lately. This is the biggest Derby in the country, and we expect nothing but an exciting clash between both giants.

The Buccaneers were once again below par as they failed to secure the maximum points against a resurgent Cape Town Spurs a few days ago. Orlando Pirates were denied a stone wall penalty in the game's final seconds as they settled for a (1-1) share of the spoils against the team at the bottom of the log. The result means they have now won once in their previous five games. Orlando Pirates have a long way to go in their attempt to play continental football next season. They are presently out of the race as they trail the league leaders with twelve whooping points.

Kaizer Chiefs are now unbeaten in their previous seven games in the league but have failed to score more than once in eight consecutive matches. 

Cavin Johnson's men have managed eight wins, five stalemates, and six defeats this season. Kaizer Chiefs have won three, lost four and drawn away from home this season. 

Expert Betting Tips

In the last sixteen league meetings between the two Soweto Giants, it is Amakhosi who hold a slight upper hand with seven wins while the Buccaneers have emerged as winners on five occasions. Four games have ended in a draw during this period, with the last result dating back to the 2018/19 season. Their most recent meeting ended in a (0-1) victory for Orlando Pirates in a tight contest. Both teams have been underperforming lately, but the Buccaneers hardly lose to top teams. At the same time, Kaizer Chiefs have struggled in front of goals recently but have been defensively better, at least in their last eight games. 

Evidence Makgopa still struggles with injury, but Orlando have enough manpower to make up for his absence. For the visitors, Gabriel Dove will not be available for this encounter as the veteran defender will serve his second match ban against the Buccaneers.

We expect the hosts to be stronger here as they have played better than their rivals in recent games. But to be on the safe side, we think this game will produce less than two goals.
