On Friday, Balestier Central will square off against Tampines Rovers at the Bishan Stadium. Balestier have a slim chance of winning the SPL; however, with their recruitment strategy, we expect them to finish in the top four. At the same time, Tampines Rovers are tipped to challenge Lion City for the SPL trophy this season.

The Tigers are unbeaten since the season began, securing a share of the spoils in their opening game against Geylang International and picking up the maximum points against Tanjong Pagar. Their opening day (2-2) stalemate was followed by a total domination against Tanjong Pagar, defeating them (0-5) away from home.
Balestier had a better season than the previous run in the SPL, wrapping up their campaign in fourth place. Balestier Central were the only side that didn’t draw a game in the league; they lost twelve and won twelve times.
Balestier Central won just four in their previous home game in this competition, and we expect them to do better this time. They have made some major signings and sold most of their key players.
Tampines Rovers
After coming from a goal down to secure the maximum points against the defending champions on their ground, the Stags head here with a (4-4) share of the spoils against Geylang International. The game was one of the best matches of the round as they fought back to settle for a stalemate despite being two goals up in the early stages.
The Stags, who missed out on the title following their run of five games with just a win towards the end of last season, will strive to compete again this campaign. Tampines Rovers finished in third spot for the second consecutive season, trailing Lion City with six points.
Tampines Rovers have strengthened their squad in the transfer window and look pretty solid on paper going into the league.
Expert Betting
Over their previous twenty meetings, Balestier have won twice while Tampines Rovers have won twelve and six matches ending in a tie. Balestier Central have been pretty decent since the start of the season, scoring seven while conceding twice, although they are yet to test themselves against a top team. At the same time, Tampines Rovers have been pretty solid, winning once and settling for a stalemate.
Both teams have had an equal start to the season, and we think any team can win here. With the level of competition in this league and the quality of both teams, we expect both teams to get a goal apiece before the break for 2.70.
Balestier Central are our favourite pick here, and we think they’ll win either half for 2.78.
We expect to see more than a goal before the break for 1.78.
Good luck!
