Celtic vs Dundee FC Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds | 16 SEPTEMBER, 2023

When they host Dundee at Parkhead on Saturday afternoon, the defending champions of the Scottish Premiership, Celtic, will be seeking to keep their place at the top of the standings so that they may claim another title. The Hoops have collected 10 points through their first four matches in the premier division, but the visitors have only gathered five points over the same number of games and are currently in the middle of the table.

After being forced to settle for only a point in a goalless home draw with St. Johnstone, Celtic got back on track with a narrow 1-0 triumph against Old Firm rivals Rangers before the international break. Before Kyogo Furuhashi scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in first-half stoppage time to help the Hoops claim bragging rights in Glasgow, the video assistant referee (VAR) controversially prevented the Gers from scoring a goal. Brendan Rodgers praised the "massive result" secured by his Celtic side in front of a capacity crowd at Ibrox "baying for blood" with not a single Hoops fan in sight, and the Northern Irishman is now hoping to build positive momentum in advance of his team's Champions League group-stage opener against Feyenoord on the following Tuesday. On Saturday, Celtic will go into the game against Dundee with high expectations for victory because they had prevailed in each of their previous six games with Dundee by a combined score of 22-4. The amazing unbeaten streak of 46 games that the Hoops have had across all competitions is good news for Rodgers and the rest of the team as they try to get ahead of Motherwell, who is tied for first place, before playing against the Steelmen in a few weeks.

Since gaining promotion as champions of the Championship the previous year, Dundee have gotten off to a slow start in their first season back in the Premiership. They have accumulated five points from their first four matches, which puts them in a respectable position. The Dark Blues recorded their first victory of the new league season with a 1-0 victory over Hearts at the end of the previous month, and they appeared to be on track to win back-to-back games as they held a 2-0 lead away against St. Johnstone in their most recent matchup. However, Dundee were left feeling disheartened as they headed into the international break because they allowed St. Johnstone to rescue a 2-2 draw in Perth by conceding two late goals, including an equalizer scored by Max Kucheriavyi in the 96th minute. After the game, Dundee manager Tony Docherty was initially left "speechless," but he later recognized that his team would learn from the defeat and seek to go back to winning ways as quickly as possible. To win all three points on Saturday, however, will be a difficult task given that they have not defeated Celtic at home or on the road in any tournament since Ivano Bonetti led them to a 2-0 victory at Parkhead in May of 2001 while they were playing for Ivano Bonetti.

Celtic possible starting lineup:

Hart; Johnston, Lagerkielke, Phillips, Taylor; O'Riley, McGregor, Turnbull; Forrest, Furuhashi, Maeda

Dundee possible starting lineup:

Carson; McGhee, Shaughnessy, Lamie, Beck; Boateng; Robinson, Robertson, McCowan, Tiffoney; Bakayoko

Celtic have already established an early marker for their championship aspirations. They would have been more confident after their victory over Rangers in the derby that took place before the break. The team's manager, Brendan Rodgers, will work to strengthen his squad's position at the top of the standings. Dundee, for their part, have gotten off to a decent start since returning to the top flight of Scottish football. On the other hand, they have their work cut out for them if they want to become the first team in almost two years to defeat Celtic in their own stadium. Celtic will still be considered the heavy favorites to win this weekend's match, despite the fact that they are missing a number of key players from their roster. Dundee will try to frustrate the Hoops in a manner that is comparable to that of St. Johnstone a few weeks ago; however, we believe that Rodgers's team has the ability to break through their backline and take an easy victory on their home turf.
