Despite being six points ahead of Western Sydney Wanderers and one point behind Adelaide United, Melbourne City still has two games in hand over both of those teams. The fact that Western Sydney Wanderers were defeated by Perth Glory on Friday was a boost to City's chances of winning the championship. The last two of City's three A-League matches ended in defeat, however both of those defeats occurred away from home. Their performance away from home is far weaker, but they are the only club in the league that has not lost a home match all season. Six of the team's eight games have been won, including five of the team's previous five games, while outscoring their opponents by a total of 21 goals. They have scored at least three times in five of the last six games that have been played on their home turf. In January, both teams played each other in Brisbane, and the game finished with no goals scored. This weekend, anything like that is not going to happen at all.
Brisbane Roar FC (LLDWL)
The Brisbane Roar are now in the second-to-last place in the A-League league, and a loss on Saturday has the potential to send them to the bottom of the table if other results go against them.
Nick Green is under a lot of pressure to make sure that the Lions do not end in last place and, if possible, move up in the standings, so he will be fully aware of this fact. If anything, he will be motivated to make the Lions perform better.
In spite of the fact that Jez Lofthouse had scored an equalizer in the 80th minute, the head coach of the Brisbane Roar was left feeling upset after watching his players throw away a point last weekend.
The Lions will now want to put this game in the past because they had a dreadful spell in extra time, during which Jordan Courtney-Perkins was shown a red card and then they conceded a goal in the 95th minute, which caused them to lose the game.
Expert Betting Tips
It is possible for Melbourne City to improve upon their current standing atop the A-League table. They suffered a setback during the last weekend, but their performance away from home has not been quite as strong as it has been here. They have not suffered a defeat at home in the league yet and are scoring goals like it's nothing. The Brisbane Broncos have a lot of trouble playing away from home, and it appears that this challenge will be too much for them. Our prediction for the match between Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar is that the home team will win, and we recommend placing a side bet on them winning with more than 2.5 goals scored in the encounter.
Mathew Leckie, who has been in good form recently, has a good chance of scoring at any time during the game.
