The Pheasants of Okayama will play against the Eastern Capitals of Tokyo FC in the opening game of the eighth round of the J League. While the two sides have had to put up with close shaves in recent times, they look to capitalise on opportunities for redemption.
These two sides last clashed in the junior tier in 2011, with Tokyo holding victories. However, times have changed and dynamism has flowed within the teams, with Okayama faring better temporarily – depending on the outcome of the two sides in these contests.
NB: No recent statistically reliable H2H clash between the sides.

Okayama closed the month of March with a 1-0 home win over Yokohama F.Marinos. The euphoric victory was short lived, as they fell to shambles in the next away game against Cerezo Osaka, the underdog of the contest.
The meeting saw Okayama chase the game from start to finish as the opposition scored an early goal in the third minute of the game, which they equalised in the 44th minute of the first half. The equaliser was quickly overturned under three minutes of first half injury time. The rest of the game saw both sides chasing shadows and what-ifs.
Okayama plays three defenders and since the formation fits the players preferences, the only observable hick is the scoring precision. The striker, Meireles needs to improve in his shooting/scoring ratio and give his team the edge they need.
Player brilliance singles left back defender Sato who was easily the most productive player in the game against Cerezo Osaka.
It doesn't look good for Cerezo as they face SanFrecce Hiroshima next, a team that recently defeated Kashima Antlers, the league leaders.

TEAM UPDATE: Tokyo FC (16th)

The Eastern Capitals of Tokyp FC played a flatline 2-2 draw against their derby rivals Tokyo Verdy in what was a close call to shame. The much underrated opponents, opened scoring in both halves and while Tokyo equalled affairs in the first half, it remained a 2-1 scoresheet reading till the 89th minute, when Trevisan attained a spoil-sharing situation with his equaliser.
Despite the close call, the team played decently. One loophole however was the poor reception towards long passes into the box. Another was the sloppy indecisiveness of the goalkeeper who received backlash for the first goal.
The camera would focus on Takahiro Ko, the most valuable player in the derby game, despite the obvious flaws in their midfield game.
Tokyo FC has scored six goals and conceded ten in eight games; which produced two wins, two stalemates and four losses. The next opponents are scheduled as Kashiwa Reysol, a topflight third-seated opponent who is on the verge of a winning hat trick.

The past eight games have seen the two sides struggle with goals. While Okayama has just seven goals, Tokyo has six, and has conceded more goals with ten - as against Okayama who has five under their belt.
Fagiano has a decent home streak with three wins and two stalemates, staying unbeaten in six home games. Tokyo however have been beaten twice in four away games which has produced a win and a stalemate in the remaining two games.
The bone of contention will be laid between Okayama’s spotless home run and Tokyo’s ambitious drive. My best picks are:
+ Under 2.5 goals at 1.60 odds from 1xbet.
+ A BTTS at 1.96 odds from Betway
+ A stalemate at 3.12 odds from Bet365
