The Europa League 1/8 finals home game against Real Sociedad on Thursday followed Jose Mourinho's team's script. Roma scored a quick goal thanks to Stephan El Shaarawy and then, in their usual manner, played according to the scoreline. The opponents didn't want to concede, so Roma created much space before their goal. The Romans turned it into a corner kick headed away by Marash Kumbulla. With a 2:0 win, Roma can go to Spain for the return leg with a comfortable handicap.
Roma also won the previous match in the domestic championship by beating Juventus. Gianluca Mancini scored the only goal at the beginning of the second half. Roma could thus make up for the away defeat by Cremonese (1:2) two weeks earlier by beating Juve and Sociedad.
Sassuolo
As against Cremonese, the Neroverdi had their previous match. Home side Sassuolo took a 2:0 lead towards the end of the first half but let their lead slip away by the 83rd minute. They managed to pull themselves together and grabbed the win - on 90+2 minutes, Nedim Bajrami headed the winning goal into the opponents' net. It was a 3:2 win for Sassuolo and the second in a row. Of their previous six meetings, the Bianconeri have won four, including their successes against AC Milan and Atalanta.
Expert Betting Tips
Roma has recently made significant progress in their defensive style. Putting aside the surprising away defeat to Cremonese, the Romans have conceded only two goals in their last seven games, and at home, they have not conceded in eight of their nine matches in all competitions in 2023. So there is significant doubt that Sassuolo will be able to score at least once in the upcoming game. The Neroverdi, on the other hand, are likely to concede. The team tries to play attacking football and is very unreliable in defense. So Roma's sixth consecutive home win looks like a real possibility here. We're betting on the Giallorossi's success, and we're also betting on a low-scoring game - only two of Roma's 12 home games this season have seen more than two goals scored.
