It was hard to see how the Romans could do well this season, given Marco Baroni's leadership. In reality, though, Lazio has been successful in all the tournaments they've taken part in. Last week, Lazio beat Napoli twice. First, they defeated the opponent 3:1 at home in the Coppa, which means they're now through to the quarterfinals. Then, 1:0 happeend in the national championship. Lazio has won 10 out of 15 Serie A matches and are currently in fifth place, just three points off the top spot.
Last Thursday, Lazio defeated Ajax in Amsterdam in the Europa League. In Europe's second most important club competition, Lazio is tied with Athletic for first place out of 36 teams after six weeks. The hosts have won five and drawn one of their last six matches.
Inter
The Nerazzurri also had a European Cup match in the middle of the week. In the sixth round of the Champions League, Simone Inzaghi's team met Bayer Leverkusen and suffered their first defeat in the tournament, 0:1. On top of that, Inter also conceded the first goal in this draw. With 13 points and a goal difference of 7:1, the Italian champion is in the top 8 – on the sixth line. They can already guarantee their passage to the round of 16 in the seventh round, when they play away against Sparta Prague.
In the last Serie A match, Inter faced Parma at home and won 3:1. Like Lazio, the Blacks and Blues are three points behind the leaders but have a game in hand. In their last 14 games, Inter have won nine and failed just one. The goal difference is 34:15.
Expert Betting Tips
Inter played two days earlier in the Champions League than Lazio did in the Europa League. They didn't play particularly hard in Leverkusen, focusing more on defence. We think the Nerazzurri will benefit from the extra two days of rest, and we're backing them to earn points in Rome. We're going for at least two goals, it worked in 12 out of 15 matches of Lazio in this championship, and in 12 out of 14 meetings with Inter.
