Inter vs Monza Prediction: Can the Nerazzurri break their losing streak at home?

Inter beat Benfica in the opening leg of the Champions League quarter-final, but they have not won in four games in a row in the Italian league. Can the Nerazzurri break their losing streak at home to Monza?

The first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Benfica proved to be the best possible match for Inter. The visiting side, Simone Inzaghi's team, scored two unanswered goals, with Nicolo Barella and Romelu Lukaku converting the penalty. With a 2:0 win, Inter has decided the outcome of the encounter, as the Nerazzurri can play to a draw in their return home game, and the Milan side has been doing so very well this season.

Inter seems to have forgotten about the domestic championship. The Black and Blue have been without a win in four games. Last weekend, they came close to winning the away game against Salernita but conceded a goal in the 90th minute to make it 1:1. Before that, Inter lost narrowly to Fiorentina and Juventus and also failed to beat modest La Spezia away (1:2).

Monza

Last time, the Bianconeri met Udinese and once again proved remarkably resilient. Monza conceded an early lead and didn't create any chances in the first half, but Andrea Colpani and Nicolo Rovella scored goals in the second half. The team failed to maintain their advantage as Udinese forward Betu converted a 90+2 penalty. Nevertheless, the Bianconeri regained the lead (2:2). Monza had lost only once in the previous five rounds, losing 0:2 at home to Lazio. Furthermore, they beat Empoli 2:1 and drew 1:1 with Cremonese and Verona.

Inter has a tough time spending its energy on several fronts. Judging from the results, the Italian Cup and the Champions League are now the priority for Simone Inzaghi's side. The Nerazzurri have been unbeaten in the league for a long time and, given a tough away game against Benfica in midweek. They could well miss out on points against Monza as well. The Bianconeri, under Raffaele Palladino, have rarely failed and will likely find something to offer a tired Inter after the Champions League. We'll bet on the visitors with a plus handicap and expect a low-scoring encounter, as Inter has become a bottom-feeder of late.
