Sampdoria

Despite poor results at Cremonese, Massimiliano Alvini is still in charge, but Sampdoria has already changed their coach. But so far, Marco Giampaolo's departure and Dejan Stankovic's appointment have had no impact on Sampa. In the previous round, the Genoese lost 0:1 to Roma. This defeat was Sampdoria's seventh of the season. The Genoa side is solely the bottom of the table.

Sampdoria played their Italian Cup encounter in the middle of the week and managed to defeat Ascoli 3:2 on home soil following a penalty shootout. Sampdoria is facing Fiorentina in the round of 16.
